Dress your walls

Do you remember the 70s and their flower power wallpapers? The art and technique of covering walls have evolved tremendously in the past years. We now use the term “wallcovering” instead of “wallpaper” given the variety of materials used. Think mother of pearl or even cork.

Utilitarian

With homeschooling and WFH days, a blackboard or whiteboard wallcovering transforms a wall into a collaborative space. These days, I’m juggling with the children’s hybrid school schedules (homeschooling and in-person schooling) that change weekly, and the endless virtual meetings and webinars. Our home is turning into a classroom and a cozy office during the day. Dressing a wall with a whiteboard wallcovering transforms your room into a collaborative space. When unused, it’s a lovely canvas to project your favorite Netflix show in the evening.

3D texture

Forget about 2D. This 3D wallcovering from Moooi and Arte feels like velvet on your skin. Its excellent acoustic and water repellent properties make it an ideal choice for a reading nook or a family room. A 3D wallcovering injects life into any wall, and with the right lighting, its texture is sublimed.

Floral pattern

Flowers, branches, and leaves are timeless and are depicted in a stylized, abstract, or imaginative way. More than ever, we are seeking refuge in the vegetal world, and organic shapes are soothing and soft on our eyes.

Inspired by the “dominoterie”, a handcrafted technique from the 18th century, this floral wallpaper by Antoinette Poisson, is evocative of a past Indian era, with its stylized flowers.
